I Like Freedom

by splork on January 21, 2014

There are very few days where I don’t feel like blood is going to spray out of my eyeballs after dealing with big government or big business. It is amazing how normalized we have become for our lives being controlled and regulated by these intrusive entities.

I wonder why more people do not rage against the machine. For instance Obamacare is destroying the greatest healthcare distribution system in the. Don’t get me wrong the cost of healthcare and the system of insuring healthcare is an abomination in the US but healthcare is first rate. Unfortunately we have allowed the idiots in D.C. to control both. So we suffer and the nation shrugs.

Our lives are being controlled in ways that would be unheard of just 10, 20 years ago. As a kid living in the South I used to tool around my small town with a pellet gun plinking damn near anything. Nobody blinked. “Hey kid, stop shooting my garbage cans!” These days you are quickly labeled a terrorist and will feel the full weight of a biased media and the police state. And the nation shrugs.

The direction this country is headed with the Marxist big government statists in control is frightening to those like me who value liberty and freedom over control and “safety”.

It is my nature to question authority. It is easy for me to identify with the Tea Party. I am for limited government. I am against big government. It’s that easy. I have little use for anyone that worships at the altar of political correctness and government.

So in my own small way I rebel against the system. I hack the system any way possible. To wit:

I own guns. Sure it’s a constitutional right but I delight in the fact it freaks out so many liberals. I have my carry permit, as does my wife. Both my girls know how to shoot.

I believe strongly in the eventual collapse of the U.S. dollar. If you don’t think the government can’t or won’t seize a portion of your savings to bail itself out you are deluding yourself. Ask those in Cyprus. The government will do whatever it takes to retain its power and control. When the U.S. can no longer service its debt and the dollar is no longer the reserve currency there is going to be a lot of pain in this country. Just my opinion but global diversification is important. Anyway I think the coolest monetary system hack is to own gold, silver and Bitcoin. You can walk into a coin store, plunk down USD and walk out with gold in complete anonymity.

I don’t hold debt except the damn mortgage. Buying a TV from Best Buy and paying twice the cost after paying the interest is the stupidest thing ever. Big business loves this arrangement. Hell, little business loves that arrangement. I won’t participate. There is nothing like being free of a debt.

I still think having multiple streams of income is important. Relying on your primary J.O.B. keeps you entangled in the system. Those of you who have been able to maintain an online income source I commend.

Starve the beast. Stop buying so much shit. Government relies on the consumption herd for the sales tax. Barter for goods and service. Buy secondhand. Yard sales. I love buying via Craigslist because I’m typically getting a good deal and I don’t have to pay taxes. They’ve already been paid by someone else. AirBnB is freaking out local governments for those that travel.

Grow your own food. No you probably can’t replace the grocery store unless you are a full-time farmer/gardener but you can make a dent in big agriculture. We buy from the farmer’s market when possible.

Homeschool. Homeschool, homeschool, homeschool. Whatever it takes get your kids out of the government schools. I promise homeschooling is a lot different than what you might think it is.

Blah, blah, blah. I don’t know man. I am so tired of the intrusiveness of government. I am also so tired of this obedience to government by many.

Is it an exercise in futility? Maybe. It makes me feel better. I do what I can, legally, to thwart the system. I look at life as freedom or not. I do what I can to advance my own freedom.

Let us know when you buy some Bitcoin and how you do it. I would be interested in learning how and getting some.

I’m sure you have already heard about this story but these new developments will make the blood FLOW out of your eyeballs.

@Seth – I use Coinbase as my wallet. Pretty simple. Just sign up and connect your bank so you can buy and sell bitcoins.

I wish government would stay out of people’s business. Like literally. If you want to only serve black women from the ages of 25-40 then you should be able to. If you do not want anyone under the age of 30 in your establishment then that should be your choice. If you do not want to serve white people, have at it. The market will decide if your decision is the right one or not.
