Greetings Pilgrims – Consumption Day is Nigh

by splork on November 22, 2012

Hello to you all you Pilgrims. Hope you are enjoying what we used to call “Thanksgiving Day” in America but is now referred to as pre-Black Friday, or simply the day before Consumption Day. Bless you one and all and here’s hoping that your stay in the midnight line is quick and the door prizes are many. Amen.

We don’t talk much anymore. For that I feel a sense of regret and longing. There was a time when like minded folks could get together and share their methods of mayhem in creating a business of hell for Google. Likely most of my fellow brethren have oriented their sewage travels in other directions. The tactics that were employed for staying afloat are mere artifacts of IM history. Those were good times.

I have continued to allow my properties along the web sewer to sink to the bottom from whence it came. I have few places that I can call my own. I’m a renter now.

Halloween provided much bounty for me and mine from those wonderful little one-page wonders. For that I am most grateful. The big “S” is truly a marketing vessel for those who like to pretend and beg for treats. Women who enjoy their yearly transformation into a slut for that evening, I salute you.

I hope the few readers who bother to breeze through this collection of words are doing well in their world of online marketing. I enjoy the part where I make money but the rest of the effort is a complete bore. The marital unit and myself are making an effort in an offline venture where the Web is but a tool to our burgeoning success. Craigslist facilitates our many transactions both entering and exiting the homestead.

I will probably never be at a point again where I will be creating self-hosted websites for the collection of coin. I even grow weary of Squidoo and Hubpages. Unless I can come up with products that have numerous monthly searches as well as reasonable SEO competition as dictated by Market Samurai (yes I have found this old tool to be of use for my lens creation efforts) then I won’t be spamming Squidoo with my efforts. Making money with Squidoo is incredibly difficult. I have whined in previous missives that for every ten or so lenses I do one might be worthwhile. And so it goes with mass building of IM properties. As it has been from the beginning.

In the future I would like to return to these pages and ruminate about worldly pursuits. You may find that I may divert away from monetary endeavors from time to time. Particularly as it pertains to IM as it is a complete and utter bore. I have tales and observations from my web sewer travels and as such will continue to spew forth well assembled collection of words for my enjoyment. But there are other things to scrutinize than simple machinations for making money online. I will, however, keep politics out of the discussions. I find that topic most reprehensible.

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

I ventured into IM before not for the money but because for the competition. It gives me a feeling of satisfaction whenever I outrank websites and the money will soon follow. But now, things do really have changed…

I don’t see myself writing articles day and night, creating profiles, creating accounts in twitter and facebook, blah blah blah, etc. as I move on to late stages of my life.

Unless of course it will become a business for me and will say to my clients – “use my services to skyrocket your website and earn thousands of dollars…”

Yes, you may rank your site in a few months after spending xxx.xx dollars then will come another animal update by G and will wipe your site from its 1st page. And the amount you earned is just enough to cover the expenses you made tsk tsk tsk.

In short, those makers of submission software, like demons and magic submitters are the ones getting rich; those who have built ezinearticles, squidoo and hubpages are the ones earning money….

Lesson – create your own product and service – in short establish your own business! And let those who want to build a niche blog empire to pay you to rank their short-lived sites

I’m ever so happy that Australians don’t celebrate Thanksgiving. There’s enough advertising and fake people-trampling sales each year. Of course, Aussies have paradoxically adopted Halloween, so you never know. *facepalm*

On a more positive note, bring on the rumination!

Every now and again I stumble across folk who are still dreaming about the “old days”, thinking that the old methods still apply. “Let’s spam the pants off YouTube/Google+/Amazon/etc, so I can retire young!”
Oi, you’d think they’d learn.

I would LOVE to hear more about what you and your family are getting up to. You’re a creative bunch- I’m confident you’ll find “work” that makes you happy, that doesn’t require you to be constantly latched to the teat of a good internet connection. It seems that many IMers have forgotten there’s a whole world out there.

If you ditch everything else, please don’t give up your blogging. I love reading your dry humour.

Hi Splork,

I had your blog bookmarked a loooooooooooong time ago, when you were almost starting with IM (and so was I)…

I then changed computers and lost your site…but searching in my “external HD” where I keep most of my old IM efforts I found your web and after visiting, I can see you have done great, mainly because you still make some money (I dont since Google banned me from adsense a few months ago…maybe more than a year now) so I just have 1 website (the only one I care about, where I write my own content because it is something I like and I write whenever I want)…it is in Spanish (my native language) and it ranks number 5 out of 2.2 Million websites…no adsense and nothing on it…only good content…If I could only write a thousand sites like this one…but then again, if I knew something interesting about a thousand topics, I am sure I could do much better elsewhere…

Anyway, keep on blogging and “we” will come back…let us know what else is out there, far from IM…

Good luck and glad to see your site is up and running
